Going for some skip jack today... This will be the first time I've ever fished for them! Any suggestions on what i should do? I know the basics.

If your talking about Meldahl Dam,

This is a good time to go Chris, better get there before the rain.

Use a sabiki rig and take a couple different colors with you, white usually works good.

When you get there and walk down to it you will see a wall on the low side, it's actually the side wall of the last lock. Throw out to the end of that right on the edge of the current hold your pole up high and reels slow (a lot of snags, keep it away from the bottom).

When you feel a strike DON'T JERK pause for a secound and then set the hook. you will catch more than one at a time if you pause before setting the hook.

Hope this helps and be sure to let us know how you do

I was fishing the river Thursday for my last cat outing for the year and seen the skips jumping all over was thinking about stocking up for spring. I know fresh is the best but does anyone think they will be any good frozen till march-aprilish?
